The Occupy Movement. What's Next?

At first they were ignored, and then they were depicted as dirty hippies by mainstream media. Now higher officials realize that the protesters aren't stepping back, and they are beginning to put their foot down harder than ever. The cops are stepping up their game with police brutality. The police brutality began in Wall Street on Sept 27 with NY Lieutenant Bologna pepper-spraying a couple of girls during one of the first arrests made. The four females were not putting anybody in danger, he was only trying to shut the girls up. The next hour the video of the incident was posted on YouTube. This event led to Anthony Bologna resigning from his position as lieutenant. The NYPD were also forced to back off of the crowd of protesters for a couple of days.

The latest news concerning police brutality occurred in Oakland, CA on October 25th. The police were attempting to stop the protesters and send them home by throwing tear gas and shooting rubber bullets at them. A marine, Scott Olsen, became a victim of police force after being hit. People are still uncertain if it was a tear gas canister or a rubber bullet fractured his skull. He is currently hooked up to a respirator in critical condition suffering from brain swelling. The police are responding to a peaceful protest with violent force to get the demonstrators off the streets which having an adverse effect.

Google refuses requests from law enforcement to remove videos

“We received a request from a local law enforcement agency to remove YouTube videos of police brutality, which we did not remove. Separately, we received requests from a different local law enforcement agency for removal of videos allegedly defaming law enforcement officials. We did not comply with those requests, which we have categorized in this Report as defamation requests.”

Currently over 2,500 arrests have been made all over the nation. Police brutality is only going to get worse as law enforcement and politicians are getting more serious trying to put out this fire that has been started by the people who want a fair political system. It is not fair that corporations are able to purchase laws to protect themselves and their money by bribing politicians through generous donations. We are being ruled by corporations.

I am astonished at the number of movements that have been started all over the world modeling Occupy Wallstreet. It is very impressive that people not only in our country but all over the world are rising up against American corporatism. Currently there is an Occupy London, Occupy Rome, Occupy Berlin, Occupy Montreal, and many more.

The police are losing the battle. I believe that it won't be long until the police go on strike, and finally join the protesters. This is just the beginning stages of the civil war of the social classes in America.

Do you think the police forces will join together to begin protesting with the demonstrators in the Occupy Movement?

Insightful hub, I postulate that the police that are unionized will eventually join, although I don’t believe that they will walk off the job to do it (and I agree with this). More than likely many officers will just refuse to take action against the protesters.

Love your writing style; great job! As bunco, above, I don't expect police to go that far. However, they may lose control of the movements, in which case the governments will be force to take some measurements!

Thanks! Watching the Occupy movement progress through out the months I have to agree with that.
